In 2012, Mr. Nakahara graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Classical Studies. He has been teaching all levels of Latin and Greek at Prep since 2012.
Mr. Nakahara was a team member of the Santa Susana Archaeological Project again this summer. He has been working on archaeological projects in Portugal for the past six summers. He began the summer after his junior year in college, after a professor invited him to experience life in the field and to learn how to excavate. The first site he dug, from 2011-2013, was the Roman fortified tower of Caladinho, situated just outside the town of Redondo in the Alentejo region. The tower was built and occupied for a short period in the late 1st century BC before being abandoned. While working there, he gained invaluable experience with prehistoric and Roman era ceramics, and learned how to identify major types of pottery.
